It’s no secret that I love edible gardening. Growing up on a farm, I was exposed to gardens and fields when I was literally just a sprout. I’m convinced that’s the reason I find it so easy to make “half my plate” (or more) fruits and veggies. As long as you don’t ask me to eat canned peas, I will try just about any fruit or veggie-based dish.

    Playing outside is one of the best ways to enjoy the summer, unfortunately that’s where the bugs like to be as well. Bees, wasps, insects, ants and ticks can be annoying when you are trying to have a good time. Most bites usually only cause some minor discomfort but still tell your parent if you have been bit by any bug. Here are some ways to stay out of their way, and hopefully they will stay out of yours.

    When the kids were young, we had our own version of the Oregon trail adventure, many times over. We live in Oregon and the grandparents live in Nebraska, near the Oregon trail landmark, Chimney Rock. While we didn’t have the same physical hardships of the early pioneers, we had our own stress-inducing mental hardships each summer involving three kids, two parents, and one automobile.
