Paul’s Latest Blog Post: The Truth struck again (

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Thanks to all who came out to High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Lounge at Foxwoods Resort Casino for my USI PresentsThe Truth Strikes Again” with Foxwoods Resort Casino. It was a great time and I’m glad me and my teammates and friends from Boston sports teams and local celebrities were able to come out and have a great time while raising money for my foundation.

The event raised more than $300,000 for The Truth Fund, which I launched in May of 2002 to provide educational and life-enriching opportunities for underprivileged youth. The funds will support my Truth on Health Campaign, which empowers and encourages young people to lead healthier lifestyles.

We had a great lineup of celebrities who bowled for the cause included KG, Perk, Glen Davis, Avery Bradley and Marquis Daniels; Tyronn Lue and Dana Barros came out and so did Kevin Youkilis.

I can’t forget Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos who’s always been a big supporter of the team. And my guy Chef Ming Tsai. Ayla Brown; Akrobatik; Greg Dickerson; JAM’N 94.5’s Ramiro.

And Billy Costa from KISS? He killed it as our emcee and auctioneer. Thanks Billy.

This year’s Truth Strikes Again and Truth on Health partners include USI Insurance, Foxwoods Resort Casino, High Rollers Luxury Lanes and Lounge, After FX Customs, Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, CSI Capital Management, Judith Ripka, The Boston Globe and, Comcast, KISS 108, JAMN 94.5, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Dexter, Boston Beer, Spalding, Brand Affinity Technologies (BAT), Nike, JetBlue, CAVU, Tufts Medical Center, and Switch2Health.

Boston Herald: Pierce C’s fit to be trim

By Mark Murphy

Re-posted from the article (originally published on 10/18/10)

Paul Pierce started FitClub34 as a public service to encourage children to exercise.

Perhaps he didn’t know it at the time, but it became a personal initiative as well. An athlete who sets himself up as a spokesman for fitness can’t then go to seed.

It wouldn’t have been kosher for the Celtics [team stats] captain, in the wake of last June’s Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, to go home, get married, sign a new deal and spend the next two months at a luau.

Paul’s Latest Blog Post: High school honor, fitness festival had me feeling like a kid again (

I guess you know you’ve made it as an athlete when your high school retires your jersey.

Of all the things in my career, going back to Inglewood High School and having my jersey retired this week in front of my family and friends and the people in my community who supported me from the beginning, was one of the most memorable.

High school is where I first got really serious about ball and fell in love with the game. But I wasn’t always good at it. Not by a long shot. Believe it or not, I got cut from the varsity team my freshman and sophomore years. Almost had to leave Inglewood just to get the chance to play.

Long before he was Paul Pierce, eight-time NBA All-Star and captain of the Boston Celtics, he was Paul Pierce, the fat kid.

“I like the word chubby better,’’ Pierce said recently at the Celtics’ practice facility in Waltham. “A lot of people referred to me as the roly-poly kid.’’
