This week continues our discussion of fast food and features McDonald’s. Aim to keep meals to 400-600 calories since most kids need 1500-2500 for an entire day. Surprisingly, there are many options that work. Three decisions to make:

1. Drink: Go with water, 1% milk or a diet beverage instead of soda or juice

2. Entrée: Aim for less than 400 calories. Try a hamburger, cheeseburger, Fillet-O-Fish®, or McChicken® sandwich. Grilled Snack Wraps® or 4- or 6-piece Chicken McNuggets® (keep the sauce packages to 2) are options. Salads with grilled (not crispy) chicken and a low-fat dressing are excellent choices.

3. Side: Salad with low-fat dressing, apple dippers with low-fat caramel dip, or a Fruit’n Yogurt Parfait without the granola. If you really crave French fries, choose the small size.
